Final Cut Hum Removal Tool

Hey guys,

I recently shot an interview in a room that had a constant air conditioning hum to it. It isn't very loud, but you can still hear it if you turn up the speakers. I am trying to use the "Hum Removal" tool, but I am really confused on how to use it. If anyone could give me a quick run down on which sliders I should mess w/ to remove my specific hum, that would be great.

You have to find the appropriate frequency and use "Q" as the band around it.

For example, if the hum is a low/deep hum, you could use a frequency around 100Hz as the middle and use "Q" to cut off the frequencies around it.

That's at least my understanding. Maybe Lethal has more to add.

Send your project over to SoundTrack Pro.

Highlight a area of the sound where you just hear the hum.

Create a noise print, then fade the hum down.

It works really great, almost perfect.

I don't have FC Studio on this particular machine. I only have express, but I really appreciate the tip for STP though.

Well all you can do is try to EQ it, just keep adjusting till it sounds a little bit better.

I know you wrote you didn't have Soundtrack Pro - but if you know someone who does - and it comes with Logic Pro - here's a good tutorial:
