When I'm logging or capturing tape in FCP4 I can not hear my audio, but after it is finished capturing and I play it back, I hear it just fine.

I have a very simple set up. A DV VCR connected to my G4 via firewire. I have no external speakers connected to my VCR (yet).

I have checked all the audio settings (I think), and I have the audio output going to my G4's external speakers.

Do I just need to hook up speakers to my VCR, or can this problem be fixed by changing a setting?

In the Audio/visual preferences, you need to set the audio to Firewire DV ONLY if your DVD device has speakers, otherwise it needs to be set to Internal Audio.

This is set by your Device control preset, and can be edited.

I think that'll do the trick.
