can the iPods 4200RPM hard drive simply copy and transfer DV footage?

i need an external hard drive to carry FCP projects from a school computer to my mac at home.

has anyone tried this?

Yes it can, as long as you only use it as a transfer drive and don't attempt to edit from it, apparently the iPods drive is designed to work sporadically to deliver info to the ram, not continually.

I transfer ProTools sessions regularly, and often throw video files around on mine, and the iPod has suffered no ill effects at all.
