Final Cut Pro: How come I have to render everytime I put a clip in?

Just wondering why it is I have to render even without transitions? I literally put a clip in and on the view window, I can play it but on the canvas, I have to render every new clip just to preview my sequence....

Must be some setting that makes me do this. Can anyone tell me how to change this?

does your clip settings and sequence settings match?

what sort of source footageare you using?

Incase your too sure about FCP

The footage broughtinto the sequence timeline must be of the same format as the sequence settings. i.e, same frame size, frame rate compressor etc. Otherwise you need to convert it (render it) into that format.

The best way to make sure the sequnce is in the right format is to use the easy setup menu and create a new sequence.
