I have a Final Cut problem I can't seem to fix. This has only happened on one project, but I can't make a transition that lasts longer than one frame. All of the normal methods of changing the length of the transition do not work. I've tried copy and pasting into a new project file, to no avail. Any ideas?

Ah, this is a common problem. Means there's insufficient footage with which to generate a transition. You need to have the out-point on your clip start earlier.

That is to say, transitions use footage beyond the clip's end (as it appears in your timeline). If there isn't any, that particular transition won't work properly.

The issue, of course, is that you might not have that footage (always remember pre/post roll, kids!). But try moving your outpoint earlier and see if it helps.

Thanks guys, I actually had the opposite problem, not enough footage at the beginning of my clips!
