final cut pro studio 3 installation problem

Hey guys,

I have tried a million times to get this copt of final cut pro installed.

i'm on a new imac with all the latest upgrades to quicktime and ox10 leopard.
I have also repaired permissions but still get the following error message:

the installer can't intstall some files to "/"

is this a hardware problem?

I have done a lot of research on the internet and it seems many poeple have had the same problem but with other applications. I can't find a solution.

any help will do.
