final cut pro x and 2008 iMac

I am using a 2008 iMac intel dou core with a ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO graphics card and 4 gigs of memory.

I have read that Apple says you need a 3000 Radeon or higher card. I have also read that the 2600 card works, but is choppy.

Anybody out there using a 2600 card? How is the performance? Is Final Cut Pro X usable on a machine like mine?
