Final Cut Pro X frys motherboard on mountain lion.

Just today a friend using Final Cut Pro X on a MacBook Pro running on mountain lion and fried his motherboard. Apple are not recplaceing it because it is 6 months out of warranty! Has it happened to anyone else but also beware if upgrading.

Have you tried contacting the genious bar at an apple store or speak to the manager.

Yeah they said it was out of warranty so my friend will be fighting it.

How do you know it was FCPX? Perhaps there was another defect or cause.

My work computer died using excel - does that mean excel cooks the motherboard?
