If I shoot something on my Canon XL2, and import it into Final Cut Pro, I sometimes get small, but noticeable black bars on either side of the video. It's almost like the video isn't big enough for the canvas window, even though both are 4:3 at 720x480. If I export at 720x480 or 640*480, the black lines export, too. Other than stretching the video on the timeline, is there a way to fix this?

What is your final medium? WIll you be viewing this on a TV?

You only get this behavior sometimes?

How small are the bars? If you scale the video up, by what percent do you need to scale it to get the black bars to go away?
