I'm looking at buying final cut studio 2 from a business and they have informed me that what they are selling for 600 bucks is copies of the software, coming with a license that they purchased for their own use; (ie. purchased multiple licenses with one copy of the software). They also claim Apple only gives them one copy of the original software, that is why they have copies.

So my question, is this legal? I looked up the SLAs from Apple and got from it that if the software is being sold it has to be sold with all the original stuff (dvds, manuals, etc). I don't want to spend this much on something that in a year or two will get my a hefty fine.

I wouldn't buy it without the original discs... if they are so keen on keeping copies for their own use you should insist that they keep the copies and give you the originals.
