Hey guys

I have an issue that's driving me insane! This started happening today. Randomly I won't be able to stack clips one on top of the other. It doesn't happen all the time but every once in a while it does.

Notice 2 behaviours there:

  1. The stacking works up to a point on a clip but after a certain length it will stop working
  2. Notice also that the snapping is not working as well on that clip

Any idea how to solve the issue?

I think it’s due to how the timeline works where it’ll stack the clips. When you don’t have anything in the second row it’ll populate that automatically. I think.

FCPX has an annoying habit of tying everything to the very first clip at the bottom. Delete the bottom one and it’ll delete the lot, that sort of thing. I never quite grasped it.

As a workaround you could add in gray space by pressing ALT + CMD + W and put it in the second empty space, then the clip you’re trying to move should be able to move to the top.
