Filthy, filthy, Craigslist gypsies.

So I recently brought a brand new-ish iMac from a guy on CL. I got the receipt (with nearly still a full Apple-Care, changed to my name), etc.

I love the thing and don't regret my purchase so far. The guy offered to install me two softwares I really needed with the purchase (Microsoft, and FD) at a reduced cost. Microsoft has been working great and I remember Final Draft INITIALLY opening up seamlessly.

However I tried to open it today to work on something and I get the "installed but not activated" block. And when I try to activate (both online and via phone) I get told that the "customer Number" is invalid/wasn't generated by the company and essentially hanged up on.

The seller is still in NY (I'm not) and hasn't really replied to my emails in a helpful way now that he's been paid.

Is there anyway to get a working Customer Number for this damn thing?! I paid for it!

Well, no. It's pretty obvious these are pirated versions, something you really should have known.

Exactly. Try setting you clock back in time if you absolutely need to access FD temporarily (to recover any info) . You'll have to buy a license for yourself, though.
