So firstly,

i have always wore apple watches up till series 4 and 5 where i would get wrist pain and a pain stretching to my elbow etc.
No it is not because IT IS TOO TIGHT OR I NEED TO WEAR IT LIKE THIS OR THAT... it is due to some
People being sensitive to the sensors
Q

upon checking i can see the apple watch se does not have an ecg (nice feature but did not use that much)

i could wear apple series 3 and that did not have ecg in it either i can only put it that could be causing wrist pain due to sensors being on most of the time

i am hoping the se version is good on my wrist!

will report and check it out

If you are assuming the back of the SE is going to be any different in shape to the other watches then I think you may be wrong.

a) There's still an optical heart sensor, and that's actually used to detect being worn for ApplePay to stay active as well as for exercise.
b) Having a flat back would cause the thing to rub wrist bones. Almost all watches of this size have a domed case at the back which reduces the contact area with the wrist (amongst other things).

The fact apple watcu series 3 was fine i have hope that had heart rate sensor which does not send as strong signals as ecg etc

The ECG sensor doesn’t send any signal at all.
It is a sensor. It detects your own body’s electrical activity.

If you find wearing the watch painful, look elsewhere for the cause.

This is the cause

i have been wearing watches all my life tight and not

I should clarify.
I have no reason whatsoever to disbelieve you that your watch is causing you pain/discomfort as your GP suggests.
I am not suggesting that the pain is caused by the way you are wearing it.
As you are saying, you were using a S3 without discomfort, but you are having pains from the S4/S5 therefore something with that watch is probably the cause of your discomfort.

However the operation of the ECG sensors are very unlikely to be the cause, unless it is simply a case of you being allergic to the material they are made of.

My reply to you was prompted by your suggestion that the new sensor might be "emitting a strong signal".
The reality is that, when working as it should (i.e. when not broken), this sensor does not emit any electromagnetic signal whatsoever.
It is simply a conductor to record the electric signal generated by your own heart.
Moreover, the ECG sensor is not operating unless you are manually activating it to do an ECG.

In any case, I don't work for Apple and I don't know for sure if their implementation does something strange not ordinarily associated with normal ECG machines.
I am saying the above with the sole purpose of helping you out and I am, after all, just a nobody from the internet.
So, whatever the reason for the discomfort, I hope you will find a way to isolate it and be able to enjoy your AW.
Maybe the SE will offer a solution for you.
All the best.

My wife had a Garmin to track steps and heart etc etc, til it started leaving a little triangular burn/rash on her wrist where its sensors were connecting to her skin...

Of course, no direct comparison with Apple Watch I'm sure.

why dont you just turn off the optoin where it checks your heart rate in the background form time to time? Then nothing will be turning on until you say so.

You seem genuinely excited that the Apple Watch SE will work out for you.

Hope it does and you can get back on board with Apple Watches.

😎👍

i wore the apple watch se for a full day and so far no pain, but sometimes it can show up later will keep you posted
