First....thanks to all the posters who provided advice and their experiences that greatly helped me to decide what to purchase. Use is everyday stuff: Internet, email, some Word/Excel docs. i3 would have been fine, but difference was only $90.
Purchased: 3.0GHz 6‑core 8th‑gen, Core i5, 16GB RAM, 256SSD. Monitor is DELL P2415Q 23.8" Ultra HD 4K. Backup drive is Western Digital 1TB Model "My Passport" USB 3.0
I was undecided on Mini or holding out for new iMac. Decision forced on me when my 2009 Mini went FUBAR after the neighborhood power went off and on in space of 30 sec. But, I like the fact the Mini and Monitor are separate units. Especially if I add a second monitor, would like them to match. :-0
FWIW: Received at 10% discount at Apple's on-line "Military and Veteran's Store." Note: to qualify you don't have to be a military retiree. Just having served will qualify. The discount is better than the Apple's Government Employee Store.
Again...thanks all!
