Believe it or not, but toothpaste combined with water and soap makes it shine just like new. I used a piece of cotton cloth (actually it used to be a shirt) and soaked it in the soap water and applied some toothpaste directly on my iBook. Then started to rub gently and I couldn't believe my eyes... all the dirt/dust/stuff that makes the case appear kinda grey was gone. Totally worth a try! Works for the palm rest too.

it's because toothpaste contains a mild abrasive, it's like a polish in some way. good idea by the way :D

hey thanks for the tip. i had heard of using toothpaste before but you gave me the impetus to try it and now my MB is pearly white and minty fresh:p
any household tips for cleaning the trackpad, keyboard, or screen?

I've always had great luck with that white foam brick type thing, i can't think of the brand, but perhaps arm and hammer, magic something i think

Mr. Clean magic eraser? I heard that those will clean anything, someone should try it on a macbook!

Seriously though, anyone know how to get the greasy stains off of the keys such as the spacebar and stuff?

Thats what I was gonna mention. I use those all the time and they work wonders. I use it also onm y display models and customers computers and if it can clean those than it can clean anything. I use the Mr Clean Magic Erasers brand.

We can't get Mr. Clean Magic Erasers here in the UK so I just ordered some from eBay to see what all the fuss is about. My MacBook could do with a 'professional' clean anyway.
