Should I erase the phone before turning it in?

You don't have to do it before you go to the store. Once the Apple rep activates the new iPhone, they'll turn Find My iPhone off and erase the phone while you're still there with them. Only other thing you should do before is if you have an Apple Watch, don't forget to unpair it before your iPhone gets erased.

Thank you, glad I asked. Was going to delete my phone before, but followed you're advice and happy I did, because they had to scan the serial/IMEI from settings->about. Also needed to log into the T-Mobile app to get the account number.

they tell you exactly what you need to do with the old phone. They also ask if you did a back up. I think they will help you with this in the store if you didn't.

I just did mine and they had me turn off find my iphone and sign out of icloud.
They also watch you reset the phone.

you should also bring your current carrier account # in addition to the phone #.
