Hi,
I saw another thread that someone was wondering about the AAXA P2 projector. I >finally< got mine after 3 weeks of waiting (they are heavily back ordered apparently).
I also own the AAXA P1, have owned the Optoma pico so I thought I would do one of the first comparisons.
First off the AAXA P2 sports BIG picture quality improvement over the P1 and the Optoma. Not only is resolution improved to 800x600 but the brightness is 33 lumens which is about 3x brighter than the P1 and 4x brighter than the Optoma. You can definitely see the brightness difference - it's basically the difference between dark room only and lights-down type of use. The color contrast is also much better - especially red and orange colors. Unlike the P1 / Optoma this projector is finally usable with lights on / daylight in the room, although you will still have to be careful you do not have daylight / lights directly behind the image or it will still wash out. The media player is much better, it seems to like more file types than my P1 did, although I'm still having problems with some MP4 and AVI formats. And big improvements in the speakers - I think it has twin stereo speakers now, you can actually get it louder than my Iphone's speaker phone now. Also it now has a direct VGA connection.
Downside is that this unit is bulky with the battery pack. The battery pack adds about 1/2" in thickness, but makes the over size feel a lot larger than the P1 and Optoma. Also the fan is crazy loud - about as loud as my desktop computer!!
Was it worth the $349? Yes if you're looking for portability and a big image in a small package. For business meetings I say 3-5 people - no problem. Anymore you probably want to spend a bit more money and get a 1000 lumen "portable" projector. For TV watching this unit is perfect for regular TV comes out clear. For you HD TV or 1080P guys get a real home theater projector.
Attachments:
~75" ESPN in the dark (regular non HD TV)
~30" daytime no shades on windows

Please excuse my Sony point and shoot camera - I'll try to add some real pics once I get my DSLR back from the shop...
