I finally pulled the triggered, emptied my wallet and bought the Mac Pro of my dream !!

For those interested the configuration goes as follow:

- Mac Pro 2009 - Quad Core 2.93ghz
- 12 Giga Ram (3x4g)
- Wifi module
- 1x SSD IBM 160g X-25 gen2 in the second optical bay
- 4x 640G WD Black Caviar on RAID 10 with RocketRaid 2640x4

I am not quite done with the installation yet, but the plans are as follow:
- SSD: 110g for OSX Snow Leopard
- BootCamp: SSD 50g for a windows (don't know yet between 7 & XP)
- RAID 10 Array 1280g with 80g scratch drive, 200g windows, 1000 Macosx storage

Stating the obvious, but tonight I am a really happy camper !!!

I was actually planning on getting magic mouse with it, but in HK it's not yet available, I'll pick up one later !

O man that is not MacPro, that is a rocket. :)

That is nice, bet it cost a bomb?

yeah..

HKD 24,000 on Apple store for the config (including apple care)
+ ~ HKD 3500 SSD
+ ~ HKD 1700 3x640g HDD
+ ~ HKD 3500 3x4g RAM (USA)
+ ~ HKD 1500 Raid Card (USA)

~ 35,000 HKD, still better than old from Apple: ~ 49,000 HKD

Alex

ps: I forgot, I took the ATI Radeon of course :)

and i thought my mac pro was fast *sigh* i really want to get my hands on a big SSD when they get cheaper though, really compared to cpus or ram, SSDs are by far your best bet into making your system significantly faster these days. I'll be grabbing one soon. Have fun with your new toy!
