All,

My gassed up 13" MBA, Win7 and Parallels 8 arrived - a day early, almost felt like Christmas!

Today,I will create my VM. Other than backing up everything, can you folks make any recommendations to help with a smooth installation and transition? Are there any points along the way that I should be especially focused on?

Thanks-
FHA

Really check out the guides section here. There are a lot of great guides for new mac owners.

I have found that installing a VM (I use VMware personally) is a lot more straightforward and less headaches than Bootcamp

Just take your time and be patient in the process

Why do you prefer VMWare instead of Parallels? Is it more stable?

Both have their fans

There was a time VMware was more stable and Parallels was faster
At least some said so

Mostly it is personal preference
I think VMware is the enterprise solution of choice for businesses
But for personal use, there isn't really much functional difference in features, etc.

Both have a free trial though, so you can make your own evaluation
Or you can try VirtualBox which is free

Don't have the time to test... My company has to install Win7 on my mac - and therefore they need a software to do so.

Which one is running more smooth and stable?
