Financing and student discount together

My GF is wondering if she can use hestudent discount in combination with financing through Apple.

I believe student discount is only open to the mac and little bit off the ipad, and you can still use the finance option (here in the UK). However, i don't think there is a student discount on the iPhone, a bit difficult to justify an iPhone as a study tool.
