Brand new SE replacing aw3 working from my iOS 16 XS (14 pro in the post!)

find My on the watch acts like it’s not been set up. Telling me to add items on my iPhone. But my iPhone has my AirTags set up.

OoH! Glad it is not just me then. New Apple Watch SE today and 'find my devices' just does not want to kick in. Did you sort it?

Mine took a while to kick in. I think it was the second day when it started to show everything.

Restart the watch, open the Find My app and let it sit for a while.

Success 😊. Thank you

Spooky. i reset my watch on the way to work today, still opened Find my...telling me to add items. left it open the whole walk into work,no joy.

checked it in work, no joy.

was in the middle of posting a more general 'is find my... borked' as im having so many issues, and i just went to check again, and its working....

so hopefully the other issues will go too. i was getting warnings that an airpod pro was being tracked following me, as if i twas someone elses, but its mine. messages that id left things behind when they were in my pocket. All sorts.

One thing I did find was when I changed phones a while back it seemed to orphan my AirTags. They still worked but my gf's phone would report that there was an AirTag close to her. Once I re-paired one of my AirTags with my new phone it seemed to carry them all over.

Not sure if that's related to your AirPods issue but just throwing it out there.

I recently had the similar issue when pairing an Apple Watch Series 5 (watchOS 9.1) with a new iPhone 14 Pro Max (iOS 16.2). Find Device and Find People on the watch both appeared to be not set up. Contact who shared location with me do not appear in Find People. My other devices did not show up in Find Device app. Find My app on the iPhone, on the other hand, works perfectly fine.

What appears to solve the issue is to turn off Bluetooth, restart the watch (watch is connected to Wi-Fi but not the iPhone), and open the Find Device or Find People app. Just put it here in case this may help someone else.
