if somebody wants to sell their iPhones, they restore phone as new.. but they ended up losing it or got jacked for it.. is there a way for findmyiPhone to track that iphone?

Find my iPhone depends on being signed into your iCloud account. Once you do a factory reset on the phone your iCloud account is no longer connected to the phone, and as a result can't be seen on find my iPhone.

I have a related question. Does having a passcode to unlock prevent software restore? Or can you still simply connect to iTunes and reload the software?
