Does Find my iPhone use up any data ??

Lets say if you lost an iPhone and you use a computer and access www.me.com to search for your missing iPhone. Does it use up any data on your phone ??

Does Find iPhone still run in the background if you've exited it? IS there something you have to do to make sure it's not running a background process? I've seen a sign out button in the app at the top right but figured that has nothing to do with turning the app off. Exiting stops data right?

Find My iPhone is very heavily integrated into the OS.

It's not an App that runs in the background.

In terms of data usage, a connection is maintained with Apple's servers, similar to the Push Notification service.

If you have Push Notifications on, you probably wont notice an increase in power consumption and not much more data usage.

As Find My iPhone works on demand it will also only use a small amount of data when you actually use the feature.

It will also work over Wi-Fi when you are connected to a Wi-Fi network.
