I've tried the search function but did not find what I was after.

Is there an app to locate one's iPhone? A friend has misplaced hers and is in a PANIC !!!

nope, try calling it. You need to have the new iphone 3.0 software and have a mobile me subscription, and have the phone links. Chances are if your posting that question you aren't setup. You can try calling the phone?

If she had waited until after updating it with 3.0 before she lost it then as long as she was signed into mobileme then yes, otherwise, probably not.

I am fully aware that it's possible to do this using means other than MobileMe.

Hands up who has set up there own domain name to track their iPhone's location?

.ca.kz is free and takes 2 minutes to set up, I did it simply to demo it to a few people.

Ok, technically, yes I have a domain name... but I'm not sure I want anyone but me to know where my phone is...

I hate how people think you NEED mobile me..
There are other alternatives, look at the one I set up on my phone.

Yes but with this you cannot send messages with sound to the phone. With the messages you can offer the finder a number to reach you at or even a reward for returning the phone safely to you. The tones are good because it doesn't matter if the phone is on silent/vibrate - it will still sound off. Oh and Find my iPhone can use triangulation to find the phone if GPS is off.

I noticed the "Find My Iphone" feature in Mobile Me website but it is still not functional till we get 3.0. Was this feature available on the Mobile Me website awhile back ever since they announced it or just now? I wasn't checking before and just checked now.

It became available shortly after the keynote at the start of WWDC 09.

Just so you and your friend know, Find My iPhone is no good for misplaced iPhones as it won't tell you whether it's under your bed or in the fridge. :(
