Hi! I'm the family organizer for my family, and recently my son's location has stopped being reported in Find My. When I go to the family settings on my phone, everything is switched on that would allow him to share his location with me. When I go to his iPad and open Find My, it says that he needs to sign in to share his location.

The problem, of course, is that his is a child account -- iCloud is grayed out on his iPad because it's controlled from my phone. So I can't sign in on his iPad and everything is correct on my phone, but somehow not communicating over to the iPad. I'm stuck here. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Well it clearly needs to be signed in again as that's what it's telling you to do and I guess it's been logged out after an update or something.
To fix the greyed out settings you should be able to go to:
Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions.
Tap Account Changes and set to Allow (you’ll need the Screen Time passcode).
Now return to Settings > [child’s name] > iCloud. You should now be able to tap and sign in again
Then you check 'find my' is working and then go back and lock down the ipad again in screen time

Thank you for this walkthrough! Turns out there was an update to iCloud T&C and once I turned off restrictions, I was able to accept it and move on!
