Looking for a clear answer in this.

If i hook my ipad 2 up to my mac and go to system profiler and USB i see serial number info but am not sure if on of the long numbers listed is my UDID. When I compare it to my iPhone 4's UDID, theres nothing that seems to march the format well enough to be sure which is the UDID. I want to make 100% sure I have the right string so I can register it.

Will it be after a specific prefix or section?

The UDID should be a 40 character string.

You can also verify it on the device by running one of several free apps for the purpose. UDIDit is one good one but you'll find a handful of others if you search 'udid' in the App Store.

Ok, you can use iTunes to get your UDID, but honestly the easiest way is to download the app "Ad HOC helper" right on your device. All the app does is emails you your UDID.

This is great because you are sure you're getting the right UDID, which is copy/pastable (important because copying 40 characters just typing it out can lead to mistakes).
