So you want to download Virtual PC?
Have you looked at Microsoft's website if they offer that?
Or eBay?
You still have to pay for that software, even if it is slow like hell (clicking on the Start Menu and getting an reaction might take a minute or so).

That may be due to her/him working in an educational institution.
If you're a student and your school (or university or college) participates in Microsoft's education program (I don't know the name of it) you may be able to do so too. Ask a teacher or three.

But if your looking for a piece of software which would let you run an os in a virtual environment and you don't want to pay any money for it than you can try using VirtualBox. Its totally free because its open source. Download it here:

He has a G4, so VB, Vmware, parallels will not work. You need an intel based mac to run those applications.
You know what, you are absolutely right. Guess I messed up again. After looking at your post I've thought of bootcamp it but it was also intel only.
Yep and there's a huge difference in performance between virtualpc for a G4 and vmware (or virtualbox/parallels). I used to have a G4 cube and I ran VPC with windows and it was barely usable.
