WhatsApp has made it easier to organize your conversations with the global rollout of custom chat lists. This new feature expands on the chat filters introduced earlier this year, and offers a more personalized way to manage your messaging.

To create a custom list, tap the plus (+) icon in the filter bar at the top of the Chats tab. You can add both individual contacts and group chats to your lists, similar to how you might use favorites. For instance, you could create separate lists for family members, work colleagues, or neighborhood groups, allowing you to quickly find important conversations in your chats inbox.

New lists will appear alongside existing chat filters like "All," "Unread," and "Groups" in the filter bar. If you need to make changes, simply long-press on any list name to edit its contents, which will allow you to add or removing conversations as needed. Lists are rolling out to users today, and will be available to everyone in the coming weeks, according to WhatsApp.

WhatsApp recently also added a new Home Screen widget for iPhone users. After updating to version 24.21.81 or later, you can add the widget to access recent chats, favorites, pinned conversations, or frequently contacted friends directly from your iPhone Home Screen.

This is Meta basically saying, "Hey we already group your data into lists for sale on the back end, so now we are happy to bring that functionality to the user as well".

WhatsApp will share your call history with Meta if the app is on your phone. No thanks.

What you guys in North America fail to realize is how much WhatsApp is used outside of North America.. Has nearly 2.5 billion users. They get their money from biz accounts and not pushing ad's in the app. I hate FB as much as any of you here and I love to use Signal and iMessage. But WhatsApp is in many ways better and ubiquitous to use in europe/asia.

So some people have so many chat partners at WhatsApp that they need to "find" them? For close contacts you should avoid WhatsApp anyway because of all the metadata it collects. Threema for example. It does not even ask for your phone number.

I wish Apple had bought WhatsApp many moons ago. It is so far ahead functionality wise compared to iMessage. Even something basic like the search facility is far ahead.

This is helpful. Meanwhile I can’t figure out where archive went in iMessage, is it gone?
Archive in iMessage is the one feature I always hope for every year, but instead we get more stuff i cant find any use with. Archiving messages keeps the inbox clean. It works with any other messenger, only iMessage doesn’t have it.

Who is using this Android crap ?

You are all sold to the highest bidder 💰
Correct... from the moment my two mobile numbers were entered into a WhatsApp contact list on a different device at work I started to get scam calls on both my numbers at exactly the same time. Coincidence? Nope.

Virtually the ENTIRE world beside the US uses WhatsApp. 90% of Europe and Latin America rely on it.
If you consider that both Meta apps WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger count as one, then yes. People should be very careful using Meta's apps though. End-to-end encryption does not mean Meta servers (and the app itself) can't read your conversations.
