The rest of my system is really fast - but deleting the trash is taking ages with a spinning beachball.

I checked for the DivX issue - no resolve (no folder - just a DivX folder).

The rest of the system is lightning fast, but the trash is really slow, as is screen capture (takes ~10seconds for it to appear on desktop - yesterday took 0.5 seconds).

Any advice?

Anyone? This is doing my head in. iChat hangs too. I repaired permissions, but to no avail. I have no idea why it's hanging. ArGH!

Tried restarting?

Open up Activity Monitor when you delete the trash - see how much CPU usage/memory usage it takes up.

I'll do that when I get home. I am pretty sure I restarted.... will check :)

Nothing. My iBook G3 is faster than the finder of my Mac Mini and I don't know why. This is annoying me as it's my main work machine. I don't know what's wrong with it...

Sending things to the trash takes ages and requires a spinning beachball.
