Finder behaving erratically

Trying to copy or move files from a folder to an application called PDF Toolkit.
I can move some files from Finder but not all of the ones I want. Occasionally i get the warning "Finder Wants to Make Changes" and I have to enter my username / password.
Can finder be reset or restarted?
osx 10.7.5
