Hi, I'm running a Macbook Pro and I have a PC with win xp that I still use for storage. I have a D-Link 524 wireless router. The PC is connected to it with an UTP cable, the mac through airport.
When I connect my mac to a shared folder in windows, everything is fine. Then I start copying some files, it usually works. But when I start copying large files (200mb - 1gb) something goes wrong. It starts off fine, but after a while I can see that the transferspeed is 0kb/s. If I try to abort the copying, it doesn't respond, in fact, the only thing I can do with the Finder is kill the process.
Problem is, the finder doesn't restart itself and I don't know how to start it manually. Also, my computer won't reboot or shutdown. Only option left: pressing the power button. I really wish I didn't have to do that :/
There's one other thing: in the network "folder", my PC and workgroup are not always listed, although I can connect to it using the IP address.
So my question would be: why does this problem happen, and if it can't be resolved, how can I start the Finder from the Terminal?
thx
