Finder: cannot paste 'searched' files to hard drive

I am connected to network drives and access the files fine.

But, when I search for files and try to copy them from network drive to my mac, there is no paste option in any method:

method a) search, select file, cmd-C, go to mac HD, cmd-V does nothing (and edit-paste is greyed out)

method b) search, select file, edit - copy, go to mac HD, edit-paste is greyed out.

method c) - dragging does not work either.

I can copy searched files and paste local HD to local HD.

Is there an easy way to do this?

I can copy the other way - from local HD to network
