Hi guys, Im a big fan of this site, normally I can find what I'm looking for but in this case I haven't yet found someone with exactly the same issue.
Im running mac 10.5.something on a modbook (essentially just a macbook bottom with wacom screen instead of keyboard) and I underwent a big update which seemed to load fine, but upon requested restart I was unable to do anything with the finder and several start up applications failed.
Every time I restart I get to the desktop and I see my icons, I can select them but I can't open anything or even move anything. The dock application usually unexpectedly fails, as well gmail notifier and a weather application. It doesn't say anything about finder failing but it is completely unresponsive. I can't even boot from my osx CD.
I tried resetting the pram and safe mode, to no avail. I actually bought one of those SATA - USB cables so I could access my data and turn in a project, so now that cable is the only access I have to the problem. Are there some files I can delete or replace somewhere that will fix the problem, atleast enough to rerun the update or run disk utility or something?
Thankyou for your time.
daniel
