Hey all, I've been having some problems with Finder crashing.

Here's what happens:

1. I plug in my 2.5" external hard drive. It appears in Finder. I can see the contents of the main directory.
2. The moment I CLICK on any folder/file, I get the beach ball and Finder crashes. This is the only time Finder crashes.

I've searched the forums but all the results are old and no solutions have been found.

I'm running a unibody MacBook 2.0, OSX 10.5.6. Please help as I need to access the content on my hard drive! Thanks.

Is it USB or Firewire?

You could try Repairing Permissions with Disk Utility on that external drive (not Drive A obviously)

and maybe try an SMC reset.

You can also see if there's any messages in Console about the crash. Copy and paste the messages here that occur right after the crash happens.
