I have 1.8 20inch iMac G5 running Tiger 4.11. Most of the time I sleep it when not in use.Just recently I shut it down overnight,on restarting next day the Finder went into a crashing loop every two or three minutes.
I have tried a few things;Pram,Permissions,run Disc Utility,TechTool.
With Finder crashing all the time my external drives keep on winking in and out. It makes things rather difficult.I have no control over the Desktop.
Can any one help?

Have you tried starting up without any external drives attached?

I would suggest starting up while hold down the shift key until after the spinner starts under the Apple. After some time it will ask for a password. Then restart and see if that helps.

Finder Crashing

Hi Teg,
Thank you for your input-but Shift key did not do the trick.
Late last evening I installed the latest Security upgrade and now everything is back to normal.
Sometimes things just do not compute:confused:

the same thing happend to me..but it's still here even after I installed that security update... intel right?

Finder Crashing

I am on a Pre iSight G5 iMac not the later Intel model.
Sorry that you have not been as fortunate as I was.
