Is there such a thing as default window size for Finder on macOS?

On Windows, if you resize any File Explorer window, all new File Explorer windows open at that size. Whether it is a new USB Drive, new folder, etc. does not matter.

On macOS, every Finder window wants to open at some small size and it is driving me crazy. I have one external hard drive. I plug it in. I resize its Finder window. If I unplug it and plug it again. It again opens in a very small sized Finder window.

No, there's not really a default like you describe for Windows. However, I do not have the problem you are describing. My window all open in what I would consider a "normal" size. What are your Show View Options settings?

The OS is supposed to remember each individual window's size and position when it's opened. But it's not universal, and it rarely works.

You can grab FinderMinder (Free) which allows you to set the exact size and position on screen.
