ok! so ive had this problem for a while now, i have lots of videos on an external drive, when i click on them to open then either with Quicktime or VLC i get an error message, i check the file and its 0kb or 12kb in some cases, some app is deleting them!! ive lost like 20 movies to this, and the only solution ive found is placing them in an encrypted dmg, witch is not the most plactical thing to do, any solutions? have you ever encountered this problem?

That sounds like a problem with the external hdd. I have never heard of that and have used many externals both firewire and usb and have never had a problem like that. What brand is it, how old is it, what file format is it, how large is it, and what type of connection is it?

Iomega silver edition 320gb, its the HFS+ partition, USB 2.0

i guess its the partition because i havent got files deleted in the fat partitions, i ordered a firewire one [ acomdata ] so i guess ill have a chance to format this one and experiment.

ill post results! :)
