Finder Duplicates/Renaming Weird Stuff..

I have imported a fair bit of footage via Final Cut Pro 7 to an external drive (ExFAT, USB). When importing the clips are listed:
Clip #1.mov
Clip #2.mov
Clip #3.mov
Clip #3.mov
Clip #4.mov
Clip #4.mov
Clip #5.mov

There are duplicates (exactly the same name/file path). When I either move or delete the duplicates, the entire folder (with around 100 movie files) will rearrange itself. Both of the duplicated clips are deleted and the rest of the folder will randomly create and remove duplicates.

I have no idea what is happening and it is severely effecting my video editing progress on several projects.
