Ok weird problem. MacBook Pro

New AEBS - plugged in an external usb hard disk (Seagate in an Ultra case)

Utility finds the drive no problem, but...

- in finder under shared you can see the network, but if you click it you get an error - unable to log in. So from there you can't see the hard drive.

But...

- in finder under shared you can see All..., Click that, then click the network and wallah - there's the hard disk.

Any ideas as to what might cause this?
Further weirdness - my old G4 Powerbook can see the drive fine through the network

Have you tried the obvious--rebooting the MBP?

I've occasionally seen oddball behavior similar to what you're describing, and generally speaking the only way to clear it up is a reboot.

Failing that, rebooting the sharing computer will fix it, though I only needed to do that once and I'm guessing since your G4 sees it ok the problem isn't on the AEBS's end.
