finder favourites bar - adjust width so text shows

everytime i start finder the width panel of the favourites bar is too short, so i am unable to read the text. i have to manually extend it. is there a way of keeping this setting as a default

If you looked at other threads you would see this is a common problem with the beta. Please file a bug report so we can get this issue solved.
