I tried to install a retro coloured apple logo for my menu bar today, and to put it simply it not not work and has caused a lot of problems on my macbook since.

These problems are:

- Black pictures on the buttons in Finder have disappeared
- Clicking on Spotlight makes all the icons in the menu bar disappear and then come back but does not open spotlight
- File names in Finder do not show, I think they may have simply turned white but either way they don't show
- Clicking and holding an application in the dock brings up a clear menu instead of the black one that is supposed to appear
- Black arrows for back and forward buttons in Safari have disappeared
- Highlighting choices with the cursor causes them to go white/dissapear

I have a few screenshots to show some of the problems:

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer me

Archive and Install is probably the easiest solution. Since you're running Snow Leopard (I think that's what I'm gathering), just pop in the disk and follow the normal install procedure. You won't lose any information, but all of those system files will be replaced.

Yeah I ended up doing that, I didn't realise I wouldn't lose anything at first, but it turns out it's a very easy and good solution, thanks.
