Finder folder expand arrow

I'm losing my mind. Same folder, one original in Pictures and the other backup on external HDD and both in list view and same settings as far as I can see.

One does show the arrow to expand subfolders, the other doesn't. Any knows how to solve the missing expanding arrows?
