Hi,

I am currently working with very large files(mostly HD video. 3GB and more). When selecting a file, the finder try's to preview it and freezes. This means that every time I select a file, I have to wait several minutes until the file is cashed and I can continu working.

Is there any way around this. Can I prevent the finder from previewing large files?

Tim

Skip viewing the thumbnail in Finder and go directly to the next task. Example: If you want to Get Info, right-click / control-click the file, and choose Get Info. If you want to open the file, right-click / control-click the file, and choose "Open" or "Open with".

Finder has trouble with various files, not just the large ones. My Finder in OS 10.4.11 quits if I select certain .SRT files (not all, just certain ones). In OS 10.5.8, no problem with any .SRT file.

What about the "show icon preview" box in Show View Options? Anybody who finds this thread using Search; hope that helps.
