1st I must say....I am new to Mac, so forgive me if this is a dumb question. I did look through the forums before I posted, but didn't find this one, and I did look at the Mac 101: Finder area, and it looks like Finder should work the way I am trying.

Here is the issue:

I have installed 2 apps from the Mac App Store. A typing program and a utility. I open finder and do a search using the typing programs name and it shows nothing. I do the same for the Utility and it shows nothing. I can click on the Applications on the left side and there they are, but is Finder suppose to find this information?

Thanks for any help.

Did you click the Applications folder on the left like shown in my screen cap? Finder will only search in the current folder. If you just open Finder and start typing in the search box it won't find the apps, you need to be in the Applications folder.

If you do command-space to search from Spotlight do the apps show up there?
