Finder Issues

Hi guys, Finder keeps randomly getting into the "Not Responding" mode. I would like to upgrade the OS but would like to solve the Finder issues first. Any suggestions?

What are you doing when this happens? You say it's random, but there might be a similarity between the events that take place just before getting the error. More information wouldn't hurt. How old is the computer? what model? what OS? ...stuff like that.

It's a late 2014 Mac Mini and it is running Mojave, usually when trying to find a file it always happens

As a sanity check create a new clean user account and try finder in the new clean user account.
