I use labels but in all three views (icons list columns) all I get is a coloured circle on the right side. Is it possible to actually get the name of the file coloured? The circles are way too subtle for me I need something that draws my attention

The old label system was removed in Mavericks, and replaced with the new tags system.

Send Apple feedback - because a lot of people are also annoyed about this.

FWIW: Apparently Apple selected the current system because it easily accommodates multiple tags for a single file, which of course, a color highlight does not.

Still, maybe Apple would allow the user to select a preference/option.

Ok that make sense.
But I used to label a file so that my eyes were always drawn to that file. Doesn't work now :(

This is true, and I can see how tags are an advantage. However, there are lots of threads here from people who used labels in a meaningful way to control workflow (as I did).

Also, tags are mostly broken in Mavericks, so they're not really very useful anyway.

Color Code

Hi guys, is there a way to colour code the files like in 10.6.8? I mean now files have a dot of colour but I do really need and like more the way it was done is osx 10.6. Files had colour all over the name. Please help!

Thanks
