Hey guys,
Two days ago, the Finder (10.8.4) on my iMac started to lag.
The distortion occurs whilst opening, moving and scaling Finder windows and looks like a laggy animation in a video game that the hardware barely supports. Only Finder windows are affected though.
I don't think that my iMac is too weak for the task. It's not that old and still has more than decent stats (cf. signature).
Furthermore, iStat doesn't show any CPU or GPU spikes while performing the afore mentioned tasks. The memory is also plenty available.
I really don't get what could cause this annoying lag.
I haven't installed any new programs or made any big changes to the OS. There weren't any updates from Apple in the last week.
I also don't believe that TotalFinder could be causing this, because it has worked just fine before.
I've already repaired the permissions. There weren't any to repair and it thus didn't change a thing.
Any ideas?
Could it be a "USB problem". I've read somewhere on a message board that sometimes, external storage devices cause Finder lags and I've copied a few files to a friends "cheap" external HDD a couple of days ago!?
Update (July 4th 2013):
All my problems disappeared when I installed the latest update for TotalFinder.
