Hi there.

I have a problem where the metadata for when I last opened the file are not correct if I don't sort Finder according to last opened, and sort fx. by name.

I usually use finder in the "collumns" mode, and when a file is selected I can see various info about it in the last collumn. But the last opened date is different from when I right-click the file and check the info there. (attached photo).

As far as I have seen yet, the last edited date and last opened date is always the same in columns view, whereas the last opened date is actually correct when I sort files after last opened or right-click and view info.

It has been like this since I installed Lion - it was acting totally normal when I operated under Snow Leopard.

Has anyone else had this issue? Is there something I can do to fix it?

Thank you in advance,
0eyvind

(It's in Danish - "sidst åbnet" is last opened. Sorry about that :) )

Well try this hint:

1. Quit all applications.

2. Launch /Applications/Utilities/Terminal and put in the terminal code:
Code:
/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user

3. Let it run until you get another Terminal prompt. It will be finished by that point.

4. Restart.

See if these steps help and Good Luck!

Thank you for you help satcomer, sadly the problem still persists.

I find it very weird that the meta-data changes in different viewmodes.

I only got round to upgrading to Lion a few days ago, but I also have this problem. I thought I'd dig up a semi-old thread rather than start a new one, since it turned up on Google (and is also the only other complaint I could find of this issue).

Anyone else suffering from it? If I click "Get info" the metadata there is correct, but for whatever reason Finder seems to be displaying the modified time/date for both modified and last opened in its preview pane.

Only a minor inconvenience most of the time, but I welcome any other potential solutions.

EDIT: I should add, this *ONLY* happens when I am using Finder in the column view, select a file, and check the properties listed in the column to the far right. If I use list view and select to show date last opened, the data displayed is correct. Weird.

EDIT 2: So I found another mention of the same issue, here https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3268846?start=0&tstart=0

I get the same results as the guy who replied there: sorting the items by date last opened and then selecting one, even in column view, gives the right date. Switch back to sort by name and it again displays incorrectly. I would appreciate knowing if this is a wide-spread issue or something that affects only a few installs.
