I have a MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2020, Two Thunderbolt 3 ports) that I receive earlier this month. I did not migrate an old system but did want all my iCloud and MacOS settings to migrate to this New MBP. For some reason, few of my plists came over to this new Mac (e.g., Mail signature, filter rules, choice of a desktop pattern). Also if I make a change to one of these settings it's lost if I quit and reopen the app (e.g., signatures, smart mailboxes, etc.) or reboot the computer (e.g., custom desktop image). So, in summary, global MacOS settings that I believe are stored in iCloud don't get copied to this Mac and changes I make locally are not saved on restart. I called Apple Tech support and they told me I was bonkers. I am fairly certain that these kinds of plists are global and are harmonized across MacOS computers via one's iCloud account.

Also, I can dig up the plists from another Mac and manually copy them to the new MBP and they work, but any edits I do locally are not saved.

How can I fix this Mac? How can I kindly refute the unusually bogus information I believe I got at Apple support?
