I have recently noticed that when finder is invoked from other programs, for example gmail attachment dialogue box, the icons look noticeably bigger than if finder was opened on its own. I have no clue why this is happening.

Please take a look at the attached file. Does anyone know how to fix this?

You can change the size of icons in Finder using the slider bar on the bottom right of a Finder window when it's in icon view.

If you're not in Snow Leopard, you need to go to the menu bar, View, Show View Options.

It seems you missed important parts of my question. I am specifically talking about non-native mode of finder, which is invoked when other applications open finder dialogue boxes. In such instances, the slider bar for adjusting icon sizes isn't available.

And yes, I am using 10.6.4.

Great! Thanks for the link. Now, if only they'd let you choose the custom icon sizes instead of predetermined ones. I want somewhere between 32 and 64px. One is too small, the other too big.

Sux!
